Morning spessfolk, and welcome to the Moon Wizards transit system-

I'm quite happy to say that Moon Wizards is getting an entirely new coat of paint! The site has been rebuilt around what Moon Wizards actually is now: a small group making a few different things, rather than a front page for one old project.

Moon Wizards has become less and less of a Lua Station 13 thing and more of a little studio for whatever we end up making. It still sucks that LS13 is gone for good, but it was a monumental stepping stone for me, and probably for everyone who worked on it too. I don't think any of us are going to forget it.

Mixite/13

The most visible thing to come out of that whole thing is Mixite/13. It has grown into a very small, but very dedicated playerbase, and I'm genuinely proud of that. It is not a huge server and it does not need to be for now. Having a handful of people who keep coming back, know each other, and care about the place is already more than I could have asked for in that short amount of time.

Maintaining an SS13 codebase is a bit of a monumental task. There is always just so much bullshit both with BYOND and NovaSector, our upstream. I'm honestly surprised at how well I've managed to hold up through it all.

That is not something I have done alone, either. Thank you to everyone who has shared ideas, tested things, reported bugs, put up with the rough edges, and I suppose shown some patience! The Mixite/13 admins deserve a special thanks for keeping the server going and being the people who have contributed code alongside me.

If you have not joined Mixite/13 yet, you should come by and give it a try. You can read the server information and join the Discord if you want to play a bit of an unique spin of SS13. It is a small place, but we have to start somehow!

A goodbye to LÖVE

It is also time to say goodbye to LÖVE, at least as far as Moon Wizards is concerned. I'm deprecating RobustLÖVE.

It was fun having my own fork of LÖVE. There is something deeply satisfying about taking a tool you like and making it behave exactly the way you want. RobustLÖVE served its purpose, and I am glad I got to build it, but df has taken over and is finally in a bit of a swing of its own.

With df moving forward, RobustLÖVE is not needed anymore. I'm trying to trim some of the fat from Moon Wizards, and keeping an old fork around just because it has history does not seem like a good enough reason. It is time to let it go.

Still mostly me

Small reminder that this is still mostly just me doing at things in my spare time. There are some lovely people helping out, but there is no big team hiding somewhere doing all the work.

So yeah, sometimes things move slowly, go quiet for a bit, or take a sudden turn when I get distracted by a new idea. That is just how it goes around here. I am trying to keep a few fun things moving, and I am very lucky to have good people around to help me do it.

Anyway, that is enough of an update for now. Thank you for sticking around, whether you have been here since LS13, found me through Mixite/13, or only just heard of Moon Wizards today.

Come say hello, play a round, look at the code, or just lurk in the Discord. There is more to come, and I will see you all there.
